AZ-900 Two-Week Roadmap

Twelve exam-scope modules plus one retrieval-practice day, sequenced against the official weighting, starting 2026-07-25. Print this and check boxes as you go — see MISSION.md for why this pace was chosen.

Domain weights (from the official study guide): Cloud concepts 25–30% · Azure architecture & services 35–40% · Management & governance 30–35%. Architecture gets the most days because it's worth the most points.

Domain 1 — Describe cloud concepts (25–30%)

DayLessonCovers
1Cloud computing fundamentalsDeployment models, shared responsibility, consumption-based pricing, serverless
2Cloud benefitsHA/scalability, reliability/predictability, security/governance, manageability
3Cloud service typesIaaS vs PaaS vs SaaS, use cases for each

Domain 2 — Describe Azure architecture and services (35–40%)

DayLessonCovers
4Core architectural componentsRegions, region pairs, availability zones, resource groups, subscriptions, management groups
5Azure compute servicesVMs, VM Scale Sets, availability sets, containers, functions, app hosting options
6Azure networking servicesVNets, subnets, peering, DNS, VPN Gateway, ExpressRoute, public/private endpoints
7Storage accounts, tiers & redundancyStorage account types, blob/files/queues/disks/tables, access tiers, LRS/ZRS/GRS/GZRS
8Moving & migrating dataAzCopy, Storage Explorer, Azure File Sync, Azure Migrate, Azure Data Box
9Identity & accessMicrosoft Entra ID, SSO/MFA/passwordless, external identities, Conditional Access, RBAC
10Security modelsZero Trust, defense-in-depth, Microsoft Defender for Cloud
11Security models: retrieval practiceUnplanned insert — Lesson 10's quiz caught real gaps (layer order, Defender pillars, Zero Trust in scenarios); fresh scenarios on the same three, no new material
12Checkpoint: Domains 1–2 mini practiceInterleaved recall quiz, patch weak spots before moving on

Domain 3 — Describe Azure management and governance (30–35%)

DayLessonCovers
13Cost managementCost factors, pricing calculator, cost management tools, tags
14Governance & complianceMicrosoft Purview, Azure Policy, resource locks
15Managing & deploying resourcesPortal, Cloud Shell/CLI/PowerShell, Azure Arc, infrastructure as code, ARM templates
16Monitoring toolsAzure Advisor, Service Health, Azure Monitor (Log Analytics, alerts, Application Insights)

Exam-ready

DayActivityCovers
17☐ Full official practice assessmentFree practice assessment — review every missed question against the module it came from
18☐ Gap-fill + exam sandbox + book itExam sandbox for UI familiarity, then schedule via Pearson VUE

Slipping a day is fine — reorder, don't cram two new modules into one sitting. Working memory is the bottleneck, not calendar days. If you fall behind, drop review time before dropping new-topic time; the practice assessment on Day 16 will tell you what actually needs more review.
